BLOOD's song Heaven has been stuck in my head since before my midterms started this week, and I just took my last one for a while, so it's time to get this sucker translated. It's the only song on the international album with lyrics credited to Kaede, and I'm very interested to see how different that makes it from the other songs on the disc. Or it might not be that different at all, who knows. But I get the feeling it might be. *shrug* Romanization first, as usual. Based mainly on what's sung, not just on what's written. Enjoy. BLOOD - HEAVEN Maiorita tenshi no hane Otozureta saigo no toki Ore wa nani o miteiru no? REAL na maboroshi na no ka *Kiss in the heaven place - ore wa doko e yuku no darou Kiss in the heaven place - ore o tsurete yukeru no nara Kiss in the heaven place - ano basho e tsurete yuke Kiss in the heaven place Arawareta shinigami no kage Otozureta saigo no toki Semarikuru shi no juuatsu Yuuki o dashite tsukisusume **Kiss in the heaven place - ano basho e kakeagare Kiss in the heaven place - jama suru yatsu wa fukitobase Kiss in the heaven place - ore wa koko ni iru sa Kiss in the heaven place *(repeat) **(repeat) Hehe. I love Kaede. *squee* So no footnotes for this... except in the first chorus there, where it's written "~yuku no darou" and "~yuku no nara," in the sung version, the "no" is omitted from both those lines. There's really no difference in meaning, so it doesn't warrant a numbered footnote. Ignore it. Translation ho! Feathers from angels' wings flutter down In the ending I visited [1] What is this I'm seeing? A "real" illusion? Kiss in the heaven place... where am I going? Kiss in the heaven place... if you can take me with you Kiss in the heaven place... take me to that place Kiss in the heaven place The shadow of Death appeared In the ending I visited The pressure of death hangs over us... draw up your courage and keep pushing on [2] Kiss in the heaven place... run up to that place Kiss in the heaven place... brush off anything that gets in your way Kiss in the heaven place... I'm right here Kiss in the heaven place *(repeat) **(repeat) Ooh, nice and easy. The footnotes are only for info I thought I'd add just for clarification; they don't really have anything to do with the translating. So... [1] "Saigo" means final, and "toki" means time (like a point in time in this case), so "saigo no toki" can mean anything from the end of a particular, continuing event, to one's death. Or even the end of the world. I just put "ending" to leave it open to interpretation, I guess. [2] I think the translation that would make the most sense in terms of meaning would be more like "The pressure of death is pressing down on us, so draw up your courage and press on." But that's a lot of 'press'-ing. O.o So I changed the wordings a bit for variation... I think the meaning remains intact. Also, you'll note that Death is capitalized in the first line, but not in the second... that's because in the first line it's referring to "Shinigami," a god of death or grim reaper, while in the second one it refers to someone dying. Somehow I can tell now that this song is indeed a Kaede work. in terms of sound/flow, it's pretty, it's smooth, it's on the refined side... and the lyrics themselves are kinda sweet, kinda determined... even encouraging, in a dark sort of way. Don't ask me how, I can just sense the correlation from that. It's a gift. :P I wish there were actually more lyrics to the song, though. There were, what, 4 translatable lines, plus half of each chorus, not counting "kiss in the heaven place"? Must hear more Kaede lyrics! (disclaimer: this song belongs to BLOOD, not me. I only take credit for the romanization and the translation. I'm just a fangirl trying to make J-music a little more accessible to Americans. No copyright infringement is intended. Please don't sue me, I'm a poor college student. T_T) posted by Becky at 10:45 AM

I'm always finding Japanese songs that I adore, but can't find English translations for. So I've made a hobby of translating such songs, and this is where I put them. Can't find the song you want? Send me the lyrics (kanji if possible, but romaji will do) and I'll see what I can do. But no promises, as I'm not exactly the most fluent Japanese speaker around. Also, PLEASE don't display any of these lyrics elsewhere unless you credit me. Just my name and a link back here would be great. Thanks!
